Soul-Expanding

The Blip
By: the iHope Poet

When the big things are little

and the little feel big,

when the waves of sheer longing

make your heart feel like lead,

and you don't have a reason

to be stuck in your head;

but you  do, and you are

since you're lost in The Blip.

It was just a few moments

in the grand scheme of things,

and it ended so quickly,

so it's hard to believe

that it happened at all,

but you know how you feel.

And it doesn't feel good

to be lost in The Blip.

You don't blink for the fear

that you'll lose all the proof

of the challenge you're facing,

the pain you've lived through.

It consumes you, it changed you,

short-lived though it was,

and you cling with your might

to hold onto The Blip.

In due time, you remember

there is rest to reclaim

through the grace of the One

who has suffered the same.

Then, embraced in His love,

filled with pure, refined joy,

your whole soul is expanded

coming out of The Blip.

Soul and Body

Falter
By: the iHope Poet

"Awake, and Rise!"
The angels cry;
and though I try to stand,
my mortal frame gives way to sleep,
I cannot lift my head.

The time has come
and so they beckon
those who long to bless.
My heart's so willing, yet I'm weak
in matters of the flesh.

My head will bow
without its strength,
that's when I plead for grace.
Vision falters, legs collapse,
But I'll still seek His face.

He knows.

All of Me
By: the iHope Poet

My Father knows what's best for me,
and sees the Very Best in Me.
He wants whatever's left in me,
to be the better I can be.

Training to Be
By: the iHope Poet

Think of life as a fitness program.
It may take weeks or months before
You see the results you’ve been working toward.
But the days that will count the most are when
Your muscles are sore, and your energy’s spent.
The progress you make won’t be found in the mirror,
But you’ll know you’ve done well when you feel the pain there.
So don’t get discouraged or be tempted to sway.
Choose to praise God for your workout today!

Think of Christ as your fitness trainer.
Whenever the workout is hard to stick to -
He’s been through the stretches that you’re going through,
And stands there to lift and to guide you along.
Don’t ever forget how he’s perfectly strong!
It gets better than that - cuz he paid the price too.
When reality hits, you’ve done all you can do,
His grace is sufficient, His pushups will count,
Until sooner or later all this work will amount
To the “model” you’ve been training to be from the start.
So trust in your Trainer - just open your heart.

The Limits of Mortality

Agency
By: the iHope Poet

Mortality's a raging sea
Because God gave us agency.
And though we cannot part the waves,
We may choose Christ to pave our way;
And help us walk amidst the storm,
As tall and calm as He performed.
For God, He gave us agency,
So let us brave the raging sea.

Couldn't, Wouldn't
By: the iHope Poet

I don't know how to make you see,
I don't.
I taught you all that I believe,
and rushed to calm you anxious pleas.
Yet, after all I try to do, you don't.

God knows how to make you see,
but won't.
His love's the source of all belief,
His word commands both land and sea,
and yet, He'll wait for you, because
you won't.

He Hears You

Merely Seeds
By: the iHope Poet

Some would say that miracles
come in times of greatest need.
From what I've seen, God plants them
in our lives as merely seeds.
We carry them along with us
without a second thought;
through every walk of life we tread
their nourishment is wrought.

Somewhere along the journey,
as we learn and strive and fall,
there come moments when we realize
that we need a miracle.
Our prayers and pleas will follow,
not a single cry unheard:
Father knows us and He sees us
long before we feel the hurt.
And those tiny seeds he planted
now as sprouts and even trees
come to light as faith demands them -
they fulfill our deepest needs.

So when trials may beset you,
and you're pleading for His aid,
dont forget His loving timing,
how He listened when you prayed.
If you're asked to wait in patience
for His miracles to grow,
you can trust in Father's wisdom
and the blessings He has sown.

Do you believe?

Let Him
By: the iHope Poet

Do you believe in Jesus Christ?
Do you believe that He could heal the sick?
Then let Him heal your crippled efforts, too.

Do you believe in Christ the Lamb?
That He could give the blind man back His sight?
His hands can touch your eyes with vision, too.

Do you believe the Prince of Peace?
Do you recall the deaf He caused to hear?
He'll restore desires, if you choose.

Do you believe the Son of God?
His power rose the fallen from their graves.
Believe that He can bring you new life, too.

Believe in Christ, Emmanuel,
And trust His promises are sure and true.
By that same faith He is my Savior, too.
