Just a Moment in Time

When Mother Prays
By: the iHope Poet

The world stands still --

the rolling tides and lofty hills,
the willows and the singing birds,
the wind, with it's majestic words,
all cease to move -- for just a breath.
to hear the words Her lips will send.

Straight from the heart t'ward heav'n above --
while angels stand around in love.
They carry all that She requests
to Father, who must long to bless.
For Mother is His favorite child
and every one of Her desires
call down blessings from the sky,
as sung in her sweet lullabies.

From young to old -- through come and gone
-- Her prayers continue, dawn to dawn.
It never falters, Mother's faith;
and every time She beckons grace,
in comes the light with record speed
to quickly ease her children's needs.

That haste is clearer when we see
how every wave and hill and tree
is hushed and anxious to attend
when Mother prays --
The heavens bend.

Too Much to Say

This is Not All of It
By: The iHope Poet

I want to write down all
the thoughts in my head:

All the words that are said and
the feelings I dread, and
the ones that I love...
All the things that I've done
and the girl I've become...

...All the people I live with,
the things that we share, and
the burdens we bare, and
the way that we care;
all the dreams that we can't help
but dream everywhere...

Even though I can't thank them,
nor ever repay them, I try
to relive them, and breathe them,
and share them.

I just want to write them all down
with this pen.
But I can't seem to draw out
the thoughts in my head.

Just Before Christmas

A Star Led the Way
By: the iHope Poet

Think of the moments inside of the shed,
Where the lost couple with donkey were led.
Darkness and noises and rough, lowly straw,
Just before Jesus was laid in the stall.

Shepherds were sleeping, in darkness and cold.
Think of the joy angels came to make known!
Fear was erased as they followed the light,
Just before finding the babe in the night.

Wisemen were sent to confirm what was heard,
following stars in the dark of the world.
Think of the miracle, witnessed at last,
Just before choosing to never go back.

Think of the blessing God sent from above,
Mary and child and Heavenly love.
Light took the darkness, a star led the way;
Think of the angels that never did stray.

Circled with family, and spirit, and peace,
Put up the lights and nativity scenes.
Think of your love for the gift that He gave,
Just before singing of Jesus this day.

To Give

The ultimate gift
is what He gave, so today
what will I give Him?

What Am I Thankful For?

Thanks Giving
By: the iHope Poet
via

So many hearts to be shared,
Prayers to be uttered,
Thoughts to be expressed --
It's a wonderful life, even when it's hard
and that, I suppose,
is a good way to sum up this gratitude
which so fully swells within me now,
threatening to burst.

God, Why?

So Perfect
By: the iHope Poet

God,
why the thunder claps?
via
God,
why the lightning?
God,
why the clouds so dark?
Why so bold and frightening?

Not that I'm afraid,
you know,
not that I don't like it.
Not that it's too dark and loud,
just that it's so perfect.

So thank you, God, for thunder claps,
fingertips of lightning,
Clouds of white, of gray, of black.
Perfect. Grand and striking.

Stare it down

Cause
By: the iHope Poet

Look the battle in the face
Find the fear, but don't give chase.
You don't want to catch the cold,
Holding faith is your main goal.

They don't have to know your name,
via
Just walk in and win this game.
If it's hard, don't come undone,
Save some peace for everyone.

If you fall you get back up,
Don't waste time to place your trust.
No one cares what's right or wrong,
So keep your soul, but play along.

Maybe someday you will see,
How this lifetime came to be;
We keep searching, but we're lost,
So go and fight for one good cause . . .

Playing Music

Beauty in the Feeling
By: the iHope Poet

Music 's more than just a quick sensation.
Time turns slowly, silent concentration,
Beauty in the feeling that's left
From notes still ringing...
No one can quite understand in words,
The secret of the heart that plays the chords.

Broken, falling, trailing thoughts of rhythm.
Crying, singing, keys with swift derision.
Perfect execution of
Melody's illusion...
Hearing what you couldn't hear before,
The voices playing music ever more.

via
Music is what feelings sound like.

Choosing to See

The Blinded
By: the iHope Poet

How can you say
That you find nothing meaningful
About what each passing day
Brings?

Then how would you know
The beauty that nature
Hums through the air high and low;
How it sings?

If you refuse
To understand the world around you
If you can’t use
The gifts that you are given,
Then why do you live?
To let those who don’t know how to look…
Can’t you give?
Soon, the blessings from you will be driven.

You don't see the beauty because you don't look for it...
But how many would give anything to simply have the opportunity?
Remove the Blindfold, Choose to See

I like the rain...

Nothing Else
By: the iHope Poet

To the clouds in the sky
And the sun, way up high
I will stand in this rain
Sing this song once again
There is nothing else like
what you’re giving me now
All this power in the dark
Is a spark that somehow
I am safe, I’m alone
In this place I call home

People hurt, they lash out
Rip my heart – scream and shout
Here I go, here I cry
Here in you I confide
That I tried all my best
Just to prove to the rest
That I’m perfectly sane
Not with them – in the rain!
No, there’s nothing else like
what you’ve shown me before
So much hope in this dark
Is a spark that there’s more
Than that place I called home
Back with them – all alone
And with you I’m still safe
In this place that I roam

To the storm in the sky
As you give your goodbye
I will sing my last lines
Thanking you for your time
There will never be anything else like the rain
For in you I am safe, I am sound
I am sane
No one knows that I cry
Under you, where I hide
And you’ve given me all, for that secret is mine

Don't FORGET the GOOD STUFF!

How Good You Have It
By: the iHope Poet

You’ll never know how good you have it
Till it’s gone;
And now we’re always ending up that way.
Suppose you’d be more truly blessed
If good things failed to come;
But who would you be if that were the case?

I experience this almost every day.
My worldly cares come first, meanwhile I throw away
What life really means
And all goodness’s worth in between.

So then know how good you have it
Before it leaves;
You won’t be one of those lost on their way
Because of what greed deceives.

Count Them Now
 By: the iHope Poet

Count them this minute before they're lost
it is hard to measure
how dearly they cost.
Prove in your heart that you have all you need
from life's bare necessities
you can plant a seed.
All it takes is  the knowledge of gratitude's weight
then there isn't a limit
to what good you'll create.

Things That Shine...prt.1

OK, so I know that this isn't a free verse poem, but my schedule has cleared up and I want to post something now. I haven't finished the free v. poem quite yet...

These are descriptions of things that I rely upon completely, and am so grateful for. They illuminate the paths of my life, so it seems, especially when despair gets heavy. Each verse's portrayal is in accordance with many different things in my personal life, and maybe even in yours...?

Show the Way
By: the iHope Poet

I love the stars
When they shine
So bright
In the night
And I love the light
Of the moon
In the dark.
As I watch them
Brighten, whiten
Blackness and decaying gloom,
Before morning turns,
They will
Show the way

I love the words
On the page;
Those that testify
And know.
They help me grow
To become
Better still.
And I read
Their strength, power
To shake (weakly spun) lies;
So through the last pages
Those words will have
Carved a path,
Shown the way,
Show the way.

I love the pain
In each trial.
Though it burns,
Chokes and spurns,
It lets me learn
What true hope
Really means.
When it leaves
Flowers bloom,
Weeds are gone, all is new.
But the memory of such
Will keep me on the road
Which pain demonstrates,
Carves a way,
Shows a way,
Show the way.

For all these things
Know the way,
Are the way,
Show the way.

Learn & Grow

Not Afraid to Learn
By: the iHope Poet

There are different ways to learn
Well I’m not afraid to try
Each and everything I face
I won’t attempt them just to shine

I‘ll not complain -- I’m not alone
Others will work along beside me
Times are hard so that we can grow
And if we all stand we'll succeed.

So if life’s changes are continuous
Come what may with joy or sorrow
I’ll accept it all with God’s grace
And make the most of it tomorrow.

Lazy, My Mistake
By: the iHope Poet

Maybe it’s wishing
Maybe it’s lying
Perhaps it’s nothing but the truth.

Hoping to make it
Then falling to break it
Knowing the old word can’t be new.

Well, tomorrow's a new day
Just think of it that way
And each time you’ll be satisfied.

Cry out all your tears
And wish empty your fears
Keep all your comfort that at least you tried.

It will last ‘til the end
And then you’ll want to re-spend
All these days that you wasted waiting for a break.

But don’t come crying to me
Because I’m clean and free
Of what I warned you would be a mistake.

Today

Today
By: the iHope Poet

Well, my life is bizarre
A world of bright changing stars
Which sometimes I can and I can’t control
I will do what I will
Let the rain make things real
I’m sure glad today is today

As I’m taking a stroll
Down the nearest broad road
Smile brightly at friends who pass by
The sunshine is warm
Even through thunders storms
It’s amazing what clear windows will do
For you
They’ve made me glad that I’m living today

All my neighbors suggest
My busy life calls for rest
But there’s no need when I’m wearing a smile
There are those moments of peace
When I can suddenly think
‘But I’m glad today is today’

As I’m taking a stroll
Down the nearest broad road
Smile brightly at friends who pass by
The sunshine is warm
Even through thunders storms
It’s amazing what clear windows will do
For you
They’ve made me glad that I’m living today

Life is cloudy enough
Lots of paths taken rough
You can choose
to feel how you act
Use the blessings you have
Thank the heavens you have
The choice
To be glad that today is today

More Poems

The Gift of the Butterfly
By: the iHope Poet

A butterfly once touched my sight
And blessed me with the gift of flight.

I drifted high and couldn’t fall.
I set a goal and wouldn’t stall.

Through many clouds I made my way,
I hoped against hope that my freedom would stay.

I shot past every shining star,
The thing I sought was still so far!

A light was near, I stopped to sleep;
Then woke from dreams of trouble deep.

The way was dark, my goal was lost.
Yet on I flew despite the cost.

Soon the path was found, my wish remembered.
I headed straight as the shadows surrendered.

At last my purpose was fulfilled,
So again I could walk; and my wings were stilled.

I returned to the place I knew so well.
A being there waited to hear my tale.

Yes, there was my savior, the Butterfly;
Who gave me the freedom of the sky…

open your eyes...

Something
By: Mat Edvik and Eighth Grade Class
Finished By: the iHope Poet

Something beautiful crossed my path today.
Something magical took my breath away.

Time stood still,
As if against my will.

Not an hour goes by
Without that image in my eye.

Something Powerful told me what I know.
I was lost and now I know which way to go.

A dream made real,
It was so (almost) surreal.

Not an hour goes by
Without that image in my eye.

All you have to do is look around;
You’ll see things you’ve never seen before.
They will be: Brilliant, Amazing,
Wonderful, Breathtaking.
Everything good and more.

Something Beautiful will cross your path someday.
And its majesty will take your breath away.

Life will go on,
As it always has.

But not an hour will go by,
Without that image in your eye.
Not an hour goes by,
Without that image in my eye.
