Playing Music

Beauty in the Feeling
By: the iHope Poet

Music 's more than just a quick sensation.
Time turns slowly, silent concentration,
Beauty in the feeling that's left
From notes still ringing...
No one can quite understand in words,
The secret of the heart that plays the chords.

Broken, falling, trailing thoughts of rhythm.
Crying, singing, keys with swift derision.
Perfect execution of
Melody's illusion...
Hearing what you couldn't hear before,
The voices playing music ever more.

via
Music is what feelings sound like.

Love+Smile = Happy

Not That I Mind, Part III
By: the iHope Poet

Something about loving a person makes me smile.
And smile.
Until my jaw aches, knowing that I won't stop.
And the sun doesn't stop shining so brightly, either.
Something about living each day being secretly happy,
And happily secret
About loving you...
Some would say my heart should be aching, knowing you'll never know.

Not that I mind;
If life's about love, than love's about living
Like you are mine, whether you'll take me
Or not.

P.S. to my best friend: I <3 you! didn't ya know?

Because I can...

He Gave Me Agency
By: the iHope Poet

God gave me agency
and a mouth
so that even on particularly bad days,
I can choose to smile.
BUT
because He knows me just that well,
during those times when I might not
end up with a smile on my face;
God gave me a voice, too,
so that my mouth can scream sing instead...

Smiles and Sunshine

Sunshiny Day!
By: the iHope Poet

Oh today it is a sunshiny day;
Yes today it is a sunshiny day!
All this light is streaming out in a ray…
Plenty goodness is now on its way.

No more fears of the clouds that lingered yesterday.
Not one tear from the saddest stories told.
No one’s giving in to darkness almost caving in.
We’ll keep singing until we’re good and old.
We’ll keep singing ‘til we’re good and old.

Oh today it is a sunshiny day;
Yes today it is a sunshiny day!
All this light is streaming out in a ray…
Plenty goodness is now on its way.

catching Stars chasing Dreams

To Catch a Star
By: the iHope Poet

I want to catch a star
The kind that flies
But won’t go far.
I want to wake up in the morning
Remembering the dream I chased.

Inspiring the courage to conquer
The challenges I face.

I want to cheat my fate
Destiny is something I should make
I’m going to light the spark
And ignite the fire
Within my heart.

I’m going to play my part.

I’d like to reach for faith
To make the leap
That may not be safe.
And in the end if I fall
I’ll get back up and still stand tall.

I’ll understand at least I tried.

So I will climb the wall
And face my fears
Or why try at all?
I’ll get my wish to close my eyes at night
And realize that I know myself.

I want to catch a star
The kind that flies
But won’t go far.
And that will make
All the difference
In the end.

So yeah, it's hard.

what are you going to do about it?

  Life Isn’t Easy
By: the iHope Poet

It’s so difficult
To live our life
Completely centered on the bad things
On the strife
It’s understandable
If you fall down
Among your enemies
The point is not to frown

This one’s for you
To get back on your feet

Well, grace is beautiful
And so are you
What really matters is you find
What’s good and true
Don’t act hideous
But remain virtuous
Never fail to lift the burden from your shoes

To the sky
Go and fly

Oh, it always seems so hard
To reach that distant goal
With all the snakes and scars
Obscuring the broken road
When every bitter memory keeps you low

Remember today
You are a good soul
Don’t allow the fog
To overcome such a divine role
Though life is difficult
Serve with rectitude
Never let go
Of that one
Winning attitude

it could be Raining

If I Could Rain
By: the iHope Poet

I stand in the rain
and feel the rhythm it forms
Drip drop, drip drop…
I am inspired
I see myself
With the potential to be anything
A musician, a writer
An artist
This water falls, and fills the air
With hope and talent.

If I could rain,
I’d send down lightning bolts of exhilaration
The thunder would shake
The earth with ideas
The smell of dew would
Spread my influence
And the clouds would form my purpose.

If I could rain,
The world would witness
Every tree reach up
Towards the sky
Thirsting for more
Each bird would fly
Alongside every raindrop
And the sun?
The sun would watch from behind the clouds
Holding back its light ‘til after
The day that I rain.

It would be dark
With strikes of energy lighting the air
And thunderous booms! keeping each soul alert
Every mind would be in deep thought
The atmosphere would be seen from each angle
As a sky of concentration
a thick fog of imagination.

Oh, if I could rain.
I would rain
My heart, my mind
My strength
My determination, my dreams
And my inspiration
Each raindrop would be
A storm

Of my life.

Today

Today
By: the iHope Poet

Well, my life is bizarre
A world of bright changing stars
Which sometimes I can and I can’t control
I will do what I will
Let the rain make things real
I’m sure glad today is today

As I’m taking a stroll
Down the nearest broad road
Smile brightly at friends who pass by
The sunshine is warm
Even through thunders storms
It’s amazing what clear windows will do
For you
They’ve made me glad that I’m living today

All my neighbors suggest
My busy life calls for rest
But there’s no need when I’m wearing a smile
There are those moments of peace
When I can suddenly think
‘But I’m glad today is today’

As I’m taking a stroll
Down the nearest broad road
Smile brightly at friends who pass by
The sunshine is warm
Even through thunders storms
It’s amazing what clear windows will do
For you
They’ve made me glad that I’m living today

Life is cloudy enough
Lots of paths taken rough
You can choose
to feel how you act
Use the blessings you have
Thank the heavens you have
The choice
To be glad that today is today

The Gift of the Butterfly
By: the iHope Poet

A butterfly once touched my sight
And blessed me with the gift of flight.

I drifted high and couldn’t fall.
I set a goal and wouldn’t stall.

Through many clouds I made my way,
I hoped against hope that my freedom would stay.

I shot past every shining star,
The thing I sought was still so far!

A light was near, I stopped to sleep;
Then woke from dreams of trouble deep.

The way was dark, my goal was lost.
Yet on I flew despite the cost.

Soon the path was found, my wish remembered.
I headed straight as the shadows surrendered.

At last my purpose was fulfilled,
So again I could walk; and my wings were stilled.

I returned to the place I knew so well.
A being there waited to hear my tale.

Yes, there was my savior, the Butterfly;
Who gave me the freedom of the sky…

open your eyes...

Something
By: Mat Edvik and Eighth Grade Class
Finished By: the iHope Poet

Something beautiful crossed my path today.
Something magical took my breath away.

Time stood still,
As if against my will.

Not an hour goes by
Without that image in my eye.

Something Powerful told me what I know.
I was lost and now I know which way to go.

A dream made real,
It was so (almost) surreal.

Not an hour goes by
Without that image in my eye.

All you have to do is look around;
You’ll see things you’ve never seen before.
They will be: Brilliant, Amazing,
Wonderful, Breathtaking.
Everything good and more.

Something Beautiful will cross your path someday.
And its majesty will take your breath away.

Life will go on,
As it always has.

But not an hour will go by,
Without that image in your eye.
Not an hour goes by,
Without that image in my eye.
