88 Keys to Try and Play

88 Keys to Try and Play
By: the iHope Poet

There once was a little girl.
She had a dream for her life;
If only she could learn to play,
To sing, to know, to write.

There once was a growing girl.
She decided to try in life.
She tried to play the 88 keys
And sing and dance and write quite nice.

Then there was an older girl
With some friends who pushed her on.
But no matter how hard she attempted to live,
It seemed her goals had turned all wrong.
There were many times that this girl cried.
She was alone and felt defeated.
Everyone she knew out-bested her
So she deemed that life had cheated.
And then this tired girl realized
She just could not give up.
As a little girl she had committed to try,
And with that she smiled, worked and prayed for luck.
Every day this girl practiced
To sing, to play, and write.
The next few years she grew so wise
She became full of truth and light.

Once there was an accomplished woman.
She had her gold in life.
Her daughter came up to her and asked,
“Mama, sometimes is suffering alright?”
And this mother replied to her,
“I’ve learned a lesson well:
It’s that if you want to succeed in life
The choice is yours to tell.
You never will best anyone
Or be a star of fame.
But be humble and try
In all you do
And you’ll never feel regret or shame.”

There once was an aged woman.
She lived with little breath.
She did not try to speak last words,
But smiled in her death…

  1. You are an extraordinarily gifted poet. I love the progression of the poem...I don't think I've ever read a "chronological poem" before. Keep up the great work and feel free to follow back!
