Just a Moment in Time

When Mother Prays
By: the iHope Poet

The world stands still --

the rolling tides and lofty hills,
the willows and the singing birds,
the wind, with it's majestic words,
all cease to move -- for just a breath.
to hear the words Her lips will send.

Straight from the heart t'ward heav'n above --
while angels stand around in love.
They carry all that She requests
to Father, who must long to bless.
For Mother is His favorite child
and every one of Her desires
call down blessings from the sky,
as sung in her sweet lullabies.

From young to old -- through come and gone
-- Her prayers continue, dawn to dawn.
It never falters, Mother's faith;
and every time She beckons grace,
in comes the light with record speed
to quickly ease her children's needs.

That haste is clearer when we see
how every wave and hill and tree
is hushed and anxious to attend
when Mother prays --
The heavens bend.

Until Now

With you I can see
just how much I have never
been loved before now.

Love is blind.. Again

The Feeling
By: the iHope Poet

Did it feel like this
when you wrote me then,
when I read your words by paper and pen?
Did it feel like this
when you kissed me slow,
and you said you loved me as you held me close?
Did I think these thoughts,
Did I hope these hopes,
Did I dream these dreams?
Was I just as close?

Am I blinded again,
by that thing called love:
Not real, not true, but warm enough?

Did I feel like this,
now that he is here,
and you've left me hanging, so I'm stuck in fear -
Is this how it felt to be with you,
Or do I finally have it right, is this something new?
Well, he kisses me slow, in a different way.
And he holds me close, even from far away.
Now I'm thinking these thoughts,
I hope these hopes --
I dream these dreams,
but am I just as close?

Am I really falling
off the same burnt bridge?
Is he just another you, from when I felt it then?

Did it feel like this
when you touched my hand,
when you pulled my heart and you changed my plans?
Did I feel like this
now that he's my date,
and my whole world's never gonna be the same?
Did I think these thoughts,
did I hope these hopes,
did I dream these dreams,
was I just as close?

Cuz I loved you then,
but now I have him.
Is the feeling real now, or am I blind again?

Achy

Just a Drizzle
By: the iHope Poet

Our time has past
and too late
I'm forgetting to keep breathing.

Darling, you kept my heart beating
all those years;
behind us now.

Mem'ries burn
as tears flood,
and words get a little achy.

But Darling, I'll keep saving
just a drizzle
of our love.

Butterflies and Wishing Wells

The Fire
By: the iHope Poet

I forgot about the butterflies,
their wings that keep me up at night,
the dreams that make me wish that I
was somewhere flying next to you.

I forgot about the bashful smiles,
the frequent grins from broad to mild,
and how they make my heart go wild
for someone just across the room.

I forgot about the fiery surge
that comes with such a rampant scourge
of passion, gold, and wishing, bold,
from praying what will last is you.

The Ex and The Lover

because a part of you
still tries
By: the iHope Poet

love is a ghost
you can't control
       it lingers
       when you turn your back
                 and haunts you
                 when you look away
        it trips you
        as you're falling out
love makes you hurt
to let it go.

You Chose the Sky

The Last Kiss
By: the iHope Poet

Something pressed against my lips,
I think it was your final kiss.
A finger traced my aching heart -
all thoughts coherent grew amiss.

Something pulled me close to you,
I think it was that fear I knew.
My locks were rattled, cages sprung,
And as you turned, you proved me true.

Some perfection held me still -
I won't forget my dying will,
to make you stay inside my arms
- and for a moment I was filled.

Something told me not to cry,
and I refrained as we goodbyed.
But endless were the tears that fell,
as soon as you took to the sky.

Something lingered on my lips,
You knew it was our final kiss.
But you will never feel the pain
of losing such a love as this.

when the timing is wrong

Time is a Crooked Thing
By: the iHope Poet

The hour hand on my pocket watch
is crooked in its place.
I check it several times a day,
and try to match its passive face.

Life never fails -- the sun comes up
and sets again each night,
even though my pocket watch
cannot predict the times quite right.

And every day I see you there,
I try to look away.
The struggle with the hour hand
all started when you came to say,

My Darling, you will find at times
that time itself will flee.
And fragile moments come and go
without the use of clocks and things.

When counting on my pocket watch
to tell when love will pass,
I hope you know I've learned quite well,
the crooked hand will never last.

We May Summon Angels

Closed Wounds and Healing
By: the iHope Poet

I cried as if she was dead.
But my sister has not died,
 she lives.
She stands with her heart on her sleeve,
breathing and anxious.

We do not have a funeral on our hands,
we have a life.
Hers is an opportunity to love
and care for, and support.
Hers is a heart to hold and to cherish.

And we may summon angels
for this precious, beating cause
we cling to --
Because she does not need revival,
only closed wounds and healing.

Even so, Christ can bring back the dead.

Two days I said "I love you"

thought I saw him cry
I guess I just imagined
via
that he cared at all.

could have sworn I saw
him cry. Guess I was a fool
to think he loved me.

can't believe he's gone
and there's a tear he left for
me to cry over.

February Blues

The Path That Leads Nowhere
By: the iHope Poet

When there's a lot to hope for, there's even more to lose.
We built our bridges halfway
And ignored the fateful drop as we made our way across.

I chose this path. I chose to lose my heart to you.
And I knew the fall would come sooner or later.
But sometimes we close our eyes when we sense the pain is coming.
Sometimes we choose to live blindly instead of living out of fear.

The love I have for you gave me every bit of that flying sensation I longed for.
Head over heels all the way to the bottom.

You gave me a stepping stone above the deep, dark waters.
A love that covered my eyes like a soft, lingering hand.
Words that lulled me to sleep; as I turned my back to the unfinished overpass -- anxious
for the imminent plunge.

And now that this is over, let's just say I knew the fall would come
sooner or later.
But the water slapped my face just a moment too soon.

You can only go so far across a broken bridge.

Besties!

Every Time
By: the iHope Poet

Friendship is God's simple aid
Reminding us in perfect ways
That on both bright and darker days,
When we are lost we can be saved.

I'm Missing Something.. and i think it might be you.

Lonely Ramble.
By: the iHope Poet

Maybe I miss you,
but maybe I'm just lonely.

There's a chance I love you still,
or I may just wanna still be loved.

Perhaps my heart's confused about how it all ended;
but my head insists that it really wasn't meant to be.

Either way I'm missing something,
and it's you I know I'll never see.

I Need Somebody

I need to be loved
by somebody that I love
And not love somebody
who doesn't love me.

Perfectly Imperfect

The Other Half
By: the iHope Poet

I need you to love me
for more than just my perfections.
You need to love me for my imperfections.

Not inspite of them, not regardless of them,
For them.

Because without the flaws
we couldn't grow old together working them out.

God knows I try hard, but I'm only half good.
If that.
I need you to not ignore my bad half.

Because you can't tell me you love me
when you're indifferent to a whole other part of me that exists.

You can't tell me you know me so well,
when you don't remember all the times I shot you down.

Forgiveness is one thing, and forgetting is quite another.
Don't forget me. Love me.
I'm imperfect.

Please accept that too.

O Come, Let Us Adore Him

Come
By: the iHope Poet

Come, let us adore Him,
the babe in the stall,
who gave us the blessing
via
of giving His all.

Come, let us adore the
sweet son of our God.
The man who brought peace
on this earth from above.

Come, let us adore Him.
His birth and his life.
For Christ was much more
than a child in the night.

His mercy, His goodness,
His perfection and love,
His miraculous deeds
and His sacrificed blood;

Come, let us adore Him,
the babe in the stall,
who gave us the blessing
of giving His all!

Make the Choice

To Reach
By: the iHope Poet

fingertips are hardly simple tools
upon our hands.
they do not touch or feel or reach
without a choice command.

our ears, they gather every sound.
our eyes, each dancing sight.
our dizzy heads, they're rash
as every idle thought takes flight.

but our hands have something more in use
than mindless tendencies,
the miracle of our fingers is
they listen when we reach.

A Beautiful Farewell

Your light is missed now
but we know the night will end
to show us morning.

Love, until we meet again.

What if.

Afraid of the Response
By: the iHope Poet

You are afraid of silence.
A fear that if you stop to listen closely,
you won't hear anything at all.

You are afraid of the dark.
The illusion that if you pause to look deeper,
you'll be alone in an empty space.

You are afraid of the cold.
Fearful of reaching out with warmth,
asking for it, too;
and feeling a ghost's breath instead.

You're afraid of deficit.
For what is silence, but a lack of noise and sound?
Darkness, but the absense of light?

And a frozen soul just a heart without
the warmth of love.

The sky dropped buckets . . .

On a clear, blue day.
By: the iHope Poet

The sun was here the other day.
It promised it would stay
a while.
The clouds were white and far away,
yet lingered, as if threat'ning bile.

Today those clouds have lowered, thick,
and though the skies are still so blue,

I see the world in grays and blacks.
And white is gone, the sunshine, too.

So much for promises of lasting sun,
so much for hope of days to come.
The rain is here today,
and I
can only look towards the sky.
