a Villanelle

Meant to Be
By: the iHope Poet

How deeply does meaning in life take its form?
When reflections are broken and mirrors are gone dark,
Maybe then they can find what’s behind the closed door.

Sometimes the goodness in light seems no more,
And all the things evil have left there black mark.
So, how deeply does meaning in life take its form?

What is there in life which is meant to be torn?
If there is any match for some small hope to spark,
Maybe it will reveal what’s behind the closed door.

And then perhaps truth will at last be reborn,
So a journey is made for the brave to embark.
How deeply does meaning in their life take form?

Yet, in the end, when their triumph is weary and worn,
When their last strength is weakened and ragged with scars,
Maybe they will not find what’s behind the closed door.

But since failure is meant to be, they should not mourn,
And in asking the wisdom of long-blackened stars,
Just how deeply meaning in life takes its form? ,
Maybe then they can find what’s behind the closed door.
